Making a Mortal Kombat movie with out the suck.

There is no shortage of violence in video games. Violence in games that doesn't translate to the movie is weak. If you can butcher someone in a video game, I expect the movie to have the same level of gratuitous violence.

Long ago there was a movie called Mortal Kombat. That movie sucked, and more a kin to The Last Dragon.

This movie which is apparently a pitch to studios for a budget looks like it could be incredible. Yes that is Michael Jai White, and Jerri Ryan.

Is Electric Youth powering these giant beasts?

This might be the best movie ever made.

Max Payne, despite sounding like N.W.O. era bad guy, Max Payne will bring plenty of noir to this Samhaim season. I really like the Danzigesque black winged angels.

Here the company has decided to rather than just release another trailer we would get a little back story on things to be expected in the movie.

Did the Scifi Channel make Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3?

With a cast mighty enough to bring basic cable to its knees! The only person missing is William "man-tit Rambo" Forsythe. At least the effects look similar to the old games, and I know that the cut scenes are not the game. I'm not being a cynic, I'm just enjoying the B-movie feel.

Movie about a robot, or thinnly veiled attempt to unmine society as we know it?

Wall-E was great fun. I knew I was going to like this movie from the moment I saw the first teaser. I like robots, I like science fiction, I like spaceships. Check, check, check.

However not everyone feels this way.

I can't figure out which I dislike more, overly conservative thinking that makes Wall-E out to be“leftist propaganda about the evils of mankind,” or smarmy liberals getting all, "Good luck with the war, the crumbling economy, and getting those pasties on strippers." I get it, you don't agree, that's fine.

I saw this movie as a nice movie and probably the best rated G movie ever made. I thought of it as a return to quality family movies that we haven't had recently. Are we going to make another Shrek movie, with fading pop culture references, or or some other talking animorph with an all star cast of, gimme a fuckin break?.

In my own opinion this movie had a bit of a nod to Robert Heilein's, Orphans in the Sky. A long time crew of a floating biosphere with a forgotten mission. That just might be my ego talking, showing that I have read a book that is old and from the golden age of science fiction paperbacks.

I suggest we all sit back and relax, watch the movie for what it is. Besides E.T. was the first movie to have me distrust the government.

In a world of movies that could be awesome.

Last September Toby MacGuire forgave himself for that Spider-Man 3 mess, by stating that his production company would be making a live action Robotech movie. According to IMDB the movie is coming out in 2010. There is really no other information at this time.

Lawrence Kasdan is said to pen the screenplay. This is the guy that wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark and Empire Strikes Back. He also wrote the story for the video game Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire.

It is not hard to imagine Toby MacGuire as Rick Hunter. Too bad Mitch Hedberg is dead he would make a great Max Sterling. I wonder who will play Minmay

One woman to control the Punisher

Did you know that the new Punisher movie is directed by a hot German female? I didn't until yesterday.

Before taking the directors chair of Marvels most hardened character, Lexi Alexander, she was a stunt woman and really into martial arts. Here she is pictured with the hobbit guy. I hope this movie is good.




Another famous female German director is Leni Riefenstahl. She is famous for directing what some call, "greatest propaganda movies in history." The more commonly known title is Triumph of the Will. Here is a picture with her and the producer of the film at some red carpet event.

Tales of Hollywoodland! Max Payne and the Funky Bunch

So Mark Wahlberg is going to be in the Max Payne movie. Personally I think it should have been made with Dean Winters, better known as Ryan O'Reily from Oz fame.

Mila Kunis is still hot, even after doing that 70's show and the show where she is the cartoon character. She will play the female supporting role of Mona Sax. If memory serves correctly Mona Sax was only in the second game, however this movie will follow the events of the first game.

The guy that directed Behind Enemy Lines, John Moore. I liked Behind Enemy Lines, I like Gene Hackman and the broken nose suicide guy. Funny Behind Enemy Lines was sorta like Bat 21, but the opposite role fro Gene Hackman.

The movie is set to come out this fall.
